Part 1

'Rogue Frequency' was originally formed by Chris and Dave in the winter of 2001. They had previously played (Chris a member for 8 years, David a member for 3 years) in the band 'Elephant Sun', which achieved phenomenal success in South Africa, and received critical acclaim for their acoustic, intricate sound on the Manchester scene.

    Searching for an new original sound, they experimented with various different styles before customizing their unique brand of flexible, heavy indie rock. Having decided on around 10 songs from Smith's extensive repertoire, they then searched for a guitarist who could help them achieve the sound they were looking for through heavy power chords and heart-wrenching solo's. Mark fitted the bill perfectly. He demonstrated commitment, talent and desire; and thus became their first choice guitarist in summer 2002.

    It was soon time to bring in a drummer. Graham was invited to play with the band, and straight away he demonstrated his incredible talent. Graham was able to provide something that no other could dream of. He understood the music, he felt each and every song, he added intricacies and structure, as well as unparalleled ability, and after a few months the sound had been achieved.

    It was now time for 'Rogue Frequency' to play their first gig. This was the acid test. Playing in front of a packed Roadhouse, the band performed their set, even getting to extend their showing for a further track. The response could not have been better. As they grew with confidence and encouragement, their stage presence was unrivalled, and their skills as musicians shone in a way that had never been seen before.

    They know they are onto something good. They are targeting a market of disillusioned consumers, who are losing faith in a commercialized, pre-packaged, batteries-not-included record industry. It's time for someone to bring indie music to the forefront of British music again, and to put British music at the forefront of the international scene. They have the sound, the ability, the confidence and the desire.
